Jewelry, Construction Tools Stolen During 'Mob Assault' At Virginia Home, Police Say

Police in Prince William County are investigating a reported mob assault that ended in a home burglary, authorities say.

Officers from the Prince William Police Department responded shortly before 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26 to a home in the 8100 block of Community Drive in Manassas to investigate an alleged assault.

The investigation determined that two vehicles parked near the Community Drive home, with several people getting out and starting a verbal altercation with a 38-year-old man who was visiting the residence, police said.

According to investigators, the incident escalated, and an unknown number of suspects assaulted their victim before breaking into the home through an unsecured rear door.

Once inside, they allegedly kicked in two bedroom doors and stole jewelry and construction tools from the two rooms before exiting the home and fleeing the area before police arrived.

The victim reported minor injuries from the assault. Officials noted that the incident does not appear to be random and remains under investigation.
